Nourish with The Doula Gem

The early weeks with a new baby are tender, transformative and often wonderfully slow. They can also be tiring, emotional and overwhelming. In this precious time, being nourished with warm, comforting food can make all the difference.

I offer homemade meals and snacks for new families, thoughtfully prepared to help you recover, replenish and feel cared for while you focus on bonding with your baby.

After birth, your body is doing extraordinary work. Whether you have had a vaginal birth or a caesarean, you are healing, adjusting hormonally and feeding a newborn around the clock.

Nourishing food supports:
- Recovery and healing
- Energy levels during sleep-deprived days
- Milk production for breastfeeding mums
- Emotional wellbeing and comfort
- Stable blood sugar levels

For many new parents, finding time to cook or even think about meals can be difficult. Having wholesome food ready to eat allows you to rest, recover and focus on your baby and your family.I can cook just for mum or for the whole family, offering toddler snacks too.

Meals are made with fresh, nourishing ingredients and can be tailored for dietary needs wherever possible.
Some of the comforting dishes I often prepare include:-

- Asian beef and date stew

Snacks for long days and nights include:

- Homemade energy balls with oats, dates and nuts
- Biscotti with dates and hazelnuts or cranberries and pistachios
- Super seeded flapjacks
- Banana and oat muffins
- Homemade granola
- Golden milk
- Bone broth

Toddler snacks for your other little ones incudes:

- Mini savoury or sweet muffins
- Mini oat pancakes
- Veg-packed flapjacks
- Scones
- Mini frittata egg muffins
- Sweetcorn or pea fritters

Food has a powerful way of making us feel safe, comforted and cared for. My aim is to bring a little of that warmth into your home during the early days with your baby.

Whether it’s a nourishing stew, a batch of muffins ready for late-night feeds or a wholesome meal waiting in the fridge, these small acts of care can help lighten the load during a very special time.

Every family is different, so meals can be adapted for allergies, likes or dislikes and batch cooking for the freezer. If you have favourite meals or special requests, I’m always happy to talk about what would feel most supportive for your family.

If you would like to discuss nourishing meals for your family, please get in touch. I’d love to give you a foodie hug!
